What usually goes wrong, and what can be done
The restorations themselves are rarely the whole problem; it is usually what happened to the teeth underneath. Heavily filed teeth can develop an inflamed or dead nerve, gaps at the gumline let decay start under the crown, and over-sized teeth can overload the bite.
- Inflamed or dead nerve. Lingering pain, a darkening tooth or an abscess, treated with a root canal and a new crown.
- Leaking margins. The old crown is removed, the decay treated and a properly sealed crown fitted.
- Wrong proportions. Remaking teeth to the right size often relieves jaw strain.
- What can’t be undone. A tooth prepared for a crown always needs one. Teeth fractured below the gum or with damaged roots may need an implant.

In most cases, yes. Badly fitting or damaged crowns can be replaced, inflamed nerves treated with root canals, gum problems addressed, and teeth that cannot be saved replaced with implants. The earlier a problem is assessed, the more natural tooth is usually left to work with.
Can crowns be replaced with veneers?
Usually not. Once a tooth has been reduced for a crown there is not enough enamel left to bond a veneer to, so it will need a crown for life. What can change is the quality, fit, size and shade of the new crowns.
Should I go back to the clinic that did the work?
If you trust them and they offer a guarantee, it is worth asking. Many patients prefer an independent second opinion first, especially if the problem involves pain, infection or several teeth. We are happy to review your X-rays either way.
How much does it cost to fix Turkey teeth?

What if my teeth cannot be saved?

Why do my Turkey teeth hurt?
Persistent pain or sensitivity weeks after fitting usually means the nerve inside a heavily filed tooth is inflamed, or that decay has started under a leaking crown edge. Both need an X-ray to diagnose, and both are easier to treat the earlier they are found.
